the jellyfish is back!

- You sort of like walk in the garden, and teach the child, "oh look, snail..." -

Some may not even know what's a snail and smash them along their path.

Haha~! ^^

the jellyfish is back! 15th Oct has finally passed. So ytd S16 had a random class outing to Sakae Sushi~ =P

So anyway, me, War, PH, WL, ZK, ZY, JL, CB, BH, Jeffery, Ronald, Defa and Shawn went to the Sakae Sushi near Plaza Sing to enjoy. It was my 1st time to Sakae Sushi, since I do not really like sushi (except for egg and surprisingly, crabstick)

2 big tables were reserved for us, so me, war, WL, PH, Jeffery and Ronald took one table, and the rest of the 7 took another one. Quite interesting, since the conveyor belt had a variety of sushi, along with other attractive discounts and promotions, and the different colour of plates also denoted the quality and the price of the sushi. Since we took the sushi buffet, we could naturally take the 2 dollar plates at an unlimited supply, and only 1 $4 or $6 plate.

So first up, WL was shouting "PH PH! Take the crabstick sushi!" Lol. I tried the crabstick under WL's recommendation, which was quite nice. It was just a simple crabstick on the sushi, I didn't dare try the crabstick mayo sushi, looks very weird. So while eating, i took another plate of crabstick sushi again, since it was rather nice. =D

I tried the egg sushi and the egg mayo sushi also. Somehow i feel the egg sushi is better than the egg mayo. =P [I don't really know the jap words relating to the sushi, haha. War and I also tried the cucumber sushi, dosen't taste nice to us... While eating the sushi, there were some brief mentions from WL about the random trivial english facts from a television screen, probably to entertain customers. Some are quite interesting, like random words having 3 pairs of consecutive letters, but some are rather lame like, if there are no traffic lights, bring a zebra instead. =.=

After a few rounds of sushi, we decided to start using the interactive menu to order random dishes. I ordered takoyaki, some random fake scallop, egg mayo sushi, a random jap pancake, potato crotteque. The servings were really small, compared to outside, and at 2 dollars per plate if I don't eat the buffet, is seriously not worth. For the taste, except for the potato crotteque, the rest tasted as normal as the ones being sold outside, somehow nothing is special... For the potato crotteque, it is excellent! ^^ Maybe last time i ate the BPP potato crotteque and it really sucks, that's why I think Sakae's one is better. ^^ Since it is rather hot and crispy, I think it is a must-try. =D

Throughout the whole buffet, we kept asking for a lot of water, I think the waiter must be quite fed-up already, but his constant smile really made me applaud him, good customer service indeed. ^^

Halfway throughout the buffet, Ronald clicked the ask for help button for some reason, and nobody attended to our table, so we thought that it was over. However when we asked for the next jug of water, the waiter told us not to click that button, or their busy list of orders will have our table number being spammed. Wahaha. ^^

War's orders were extremely long, he ordered miso soup, some green tea noodles? And also fried tofu. 3 of the orders took very long to process, making everybody at our table laughing at War. =P Is like we ordered a lot of random dishes after War's beancurd, then all our dishes arrived first. I think they mass fried the tofu, so when War's 2 pcs of beancurd came, ZK's table of approx 14 to 16 beancurd came at the same time. Haha lol!!! =D Poor War, dun cry.

WL drank more water than sushi, so this lack of dishes was somehow balanced up by me eating more... I ate about 12 dishes... Actually is the same as everyone else except WL... WL drank a lot of water though! If it was a drinking buffet, I think the buffet must charge WL 1.5x the amount of money, wahaha. =P Another part about the waiter was that since there were a lack of jugs in the restaurant (I wondered why), ZK's table also asked for a jug of water, and so the waiter took our jug and passed it behind, our table went diao... Haha!

I gave up my expensive plate dish to ZY, since I can't and don't eat the random seafood / raw food sushi... BH seemed unsure whether a dish of food can be eaten or not, and must be heavily and seriously prompted by CB and ZY to finish the food. Shawn had a random loud laughter towards the end of the buffet...

After the buffet, we asked if there were ice-cream, and hey there really is! So we enjoyed the mango sherbert ice-cream, which i vaugely remembered that I ate the ice-cream in PJ to support ZH or Tean's CIP thing, i forgot who already, haha. A scene being recalled from yesterday. =D

PH: So how? Got ice-cream?

Eh wait, that is the wrong phrase, restart.

PH: Excuse me, is there ice-cream for this buffet?
Waiter: Sorry ar friend, not enough le.
Manager: (whispers) [I am guessing he is telling the waiter that is enough]
Waiter: Oh ps, there is a lot! ^^

WL/me: OH LOL!!

From nt enough to a lot, a big change!!! Overall, I enjoyed the experience. =P

The total cost on a friday night for youths is $18.60. If i divide this by 12 plates, it is $1.55 per plate. =D Although this can be cheaper at Safra, but for the experience of eating with friends, it should be ok. I won't go and eat alone though. After the dinner, me, War and BH set off for the train. Talked about some random prelim results and life, haha. ^^

This concludes one night of a memorable class outing. =D

the jellyfish is back! Had a day of clearing my maths homework and finishing up P2 2007 for chem. Productive? Maybe....? An 'interesting' passage! Actually is not a passage, it is just a random piece of er... (Fill in the blank)

------------------------------------------------------------------

X writes...

...While i flipped through the maths worksheets, one of the papers from the maths department contains the timetable for maths revision and the words of encouragement from the teachers. The encouragement was ok? A sentence that struck me, "Reach for the moon, even if you fail, u will land among the stars!" Something like that. =P

For the page of the maths revision timetable, another sentence: "4 weeks can make a big difference to your results at 'A' levels."

Indeed, some hardworking people can really improve their exam results by a margin, let's say about 10 or 20 marks? E.g, War has improved 12 marks from MY to Prelim! An achievement indeed, but how about for miracles to happen?

There are some random people who would say "I AM SO GOING TO GET AN A FOR A LEVELS!" Woah, a high target, but yet a dream for everyone, regardless of whether it is realistic. Upon inspection of their grades, you would have realised they scored almost all failed grades, even for the subject they wanted to get an A.

My question is: How on EARTH is anyone going to improve from U to A within 4 weeks!? I mean face it, miracles can happen, but how many people do have that miracle? Perhaps the probability which people have miracles follow a poisson distribution. Is anyone going to depend on a miracle to score?

Imagine if a person gets a U for a subject, and he goes about shouting to everyone "I am so going to score a B for A levels!" I think most people would give the "huh wth so random" reply, or simply a look of disbelief, or at the best response, "oh you can if you study really very hard." Yea study really very hard, hmm... How hard? 24 hours a day for 29 days? =P

Of course, choosing the easier way out may be a source of motivation to many. Oh, blame it on the careless mistakes, oh if only I calculated correctly, oh if only this... and that... Result: You realised you failed everything in the past due to these mistakes, and conclusion? You are going to score way better if you don't make these mistakes!!!

But think about it, how can someone get 30+ marks worth of carelessness EVERY TIME during an exam? Unless you always tio the inauspicious spot for every exam, and somehow an aura or a curse is hovering around you to decrease your accuracy, if not the problem shouldn't really lie on 'carelessness'. Once or twice, fine and so be it, but every time? It dosen't really make sense. Agree?

Reach for the moon, even if you fail, you will land among the stars. Some random ppl said: "Eh no wad!??! I thought the moon is closer than the stars?" Agreed! But something is quite true, instead of aiming for unrealistic targets, why not hit the milestones first, and only if time allows (somehow), then hit for higher targets. There is no point in shouting out loud motivation sentences to yourself and in the end flunk a simple mock exam perfectly.

Not biased against anyone, but I just feel that it is rather strange that people can actually dream of high hopes and goals, even when time and content knowledge is against them. 4 weeks can make a difference, yes it can, if time is made used of wisely. Big difference? Rare. I rather have the mindset to build milestones and achieve smaller but yet realistic targets, rather than jumping all the way up and fall with a breakthrough (with the ground also, perhaps).

For now, as RJ said, tie a knot, and hang on there. Or better still, climb slowly, and do your best. It makes sense anyway. =P

----------------------------------------------------------------------

For those who wants to practice GP, do this random AQ.

X expresses his concerns on people having an unrealistic target for exams. How far do you agree with his view? Using your own knowledge, do you think this is happening in your society?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok! End of this random post! =D

the jellyfish is back. Today is seriously a random day, and so i am posting a random post. Haha!

Nothing much happened in the morning, unless u count WK and PH talking about random things during physics. =P

Assembly was rather boring, and Mrs Leong was trying to be funny by waving and signalling that she can't see, and Mrs Tan replied "Nvm if you can't see i read out for you." LOL!!!

Afternoon mock exam very interesting, apparently all the teachers had a meeting, so in the end they requested for the lab technicians to invigilate the place. OCC: "If you bully them you will get it the next mock." Haha lol!

JM was trying to be funny before and after maths mock, keep on waving to me lol.

Ate ice kachang with vanilla ice-cream for dinner, yes it's very random. Quite nice, CT touched the hot metal plate for some reason... Hmm...

Warren was quite hungry even after eating pepper lunch (during dinner), so we went to B1 to see if there is any more random food around. When we past by Old Chang Kee, a lady was asking me want buy anything or not? So i said ok, why not buy a curry puff? She then proceeded to ask me in Chinese: "do you still rmbr me? I was from causeway point de."

OMG LOL! Am i that easy to recognise?!?!? =P Wa heng never owe her money, if nt she will rmbr for life! An eventful yet random day indeed.

I shall now be totally random by doing geog. Hope i do not fall asleep! ^^

(Reminder to myself: Q4 urban is from mid-year, I should just copy the answers)

the jellyfish is back! Prelim results!

GP

P1: 27/50 [highest GP essay marks i got in my life]
P2: 25/50 [Higher than expected!]

Total: 52 ^^
Grade: D (Very good. ^^)

Maths

P1: 89/100 (Lol?)
P2: 90/100 (Excellent!)

Total: 89.5 ^^
Grade: A (Fantastic!)

Chem

P1: 29/40
P2: 51/72 [Lol!]
P3: 49/80 [my Q2 got 8 marks only, oh well]

Total: 67.5
Grade: B (Excellent!)

Physics

P1: 27/40
P2: 28/72 [!!!]
P3: 42/80 (-.-)

Total: 50.5
Grade: D (Quite disappointing...)

Geog

Litho DRQ: 8/12 (Lol nt bad!)
Other DRQ: 18/38 (O_O)
Litho Essay: 4/25 (!!!)
Global Essay: 10/25

Total: 40
Grade: S

========================================================

Physics was quite badly done, concept very weak. Lol. G field question got 4/20, but somehow saved my thermal (16/20) within the same P3 itself.

Scored above expectation for geog, since i aimed about 20+ to 30+ marks? Ty Miss Leong for giving me a sympathy 1 mark towards the end. ^^ I shall be motivated to study geog. Hmm...

Chem and maths ok la, nothing much to comment. Not bad already, haha.

GP is unexpected, never scored so high in my life for GP before.

So comparing Mid-years and prelims, MY:Prelim for GP, maths, Chem, Phy, geog

46:52 [6% increase!]
89.5:89.5 [Lol still the same!]
63:67.5 [4.5% increase!]
57:50.5 [6.5% drop!]
43:40 [3% drop!]

overall like kena neutralised, since improvements are around the same as drops. But grade wise, i improved a grade for GP, but dropped a grade for physics, not very worth.

Rank points for this time = (20 + 17.5 + 12.5 + 6.25 + 2.5) = 58.75 (A drop of 1.25 compared to MY)

Rank points (5 sub): 59
Rank points (5 sub with PW): 67.5
Rank points (all 7 sub): 76

H2: ABD
H1: DS

No nice words being formed this time round, but room for improvement towards A levels! ^^

Grats Warren for exceeding his expectations for maths! ^^
Grats WL for getting an A in chem!
Grats PH for improving in GP and chem! =P

the jellyfish is back. Didn't play maple for a long time, and then I realised i actually do have a lot of free time if I don't play.

Taking out this time-consuming activity, a feeling of emptiness overpowers (wth lol) me. Does anyone have this feeling?

I am killing myself for not finish the value-added essay outlines for tmr!

Ending this post here. =P

the jellyfish is back! Posting about the 3rd day of the HK trip! (Although it's very long ago, haha)

Contents of this post:

- Shopping trip
- Arena of stars at night

The 3rd day can be said my most disliked day, because most of the time was wasted on shopping. This does nt apply to my mother though, the day can be said the best day to her. Gender differences, hmm...

The 3rd day is also the only day me and my mother kena separated from my father, since he has to attend the company's amazing race, which features visitng various places of interest and have some photos taken.

0830 hours

Woke up, and ate breakfast at the cafe again. ^^ The dishes were around the same, just that there were extra spring rolls and paus. The spring rolls were very delicious, with extra crispiness and the filling were well, quite filling. Some spring rolls are quite empty, basically u are just eating the skin. =D

More waffles as usual. =P

After breakfast, me and my mother set off to our targeted shopping venues.

1st venue: Tsim Sha Tsui

The MTR network (Not MRT in SG) seriously contains a lot of railway / subway lines.
